Tegamidera is a place for you to reconnect with your true self by conversing with your loved ones through letters.

The Tang dynasty poet Yu Wuling’s “A Song of Farewell” concludes with these lines:

“人生足別離” (Life is full of partings.)

Ibuse Masuji’s translation of this poem deeply resonates with us:

“「サヨナラ」ダケガ人生ダ” (Goodbye is the only truth in life.)

As Ibuse’s translation suggests, parting ways with loved ones is an inevitable part of this life. When the time comes, we hope you will visit Tegami-dera

That special someone could be someone you can no longer meet,
or someone you’re too shy to speak to directly.
You can even write to your past or future self.

Feeling the support of someone who knows your deeply, better than anyone else,
can give you the energy to continue moving forward with confidence.

Even though you may not be able to meet them anymore, facing your feelings through a letter may help you reclaim your true self and take a step forward.

Until we can open a physical Tegami-dera location resembling a cozy cafe in a small town in the near future, we want to create an online Tegami-dera. Here, transcending time and space, everyone can safely rediscover themselves.
