"Tegami Mairi" Featured on NHK Ohayo Nippon

NHK Ohayo Nippon featured Tegami-dera's "Tegami Mairi" (Letter Pilgrimage) in a five-minute segment starting at 7:45 AM.
The program explored why Tegami-dera values "Tegami Mairi," and even featured individuals who are actively performing "Tegami Mairi."
The segment focused on them, introducing their feelings for "that person" who has passed away.

Tegami-dera Shōdai-ji proposes "Tegami Mairi" (Letter Pilgrimage) as a way to confront and communicate with "that person" who has passed away through letters. We believe that by doing so, you can face the wishes entrusted to you by the deceased and regain your strength to live.

The act of visiting graves and ancestral sites is gradually disappearing from our lives. When we lose the opportunity to visit, we not only lose the chance to confront those who have passed away, but also the chance to be reminded that we often live only according to our own convenience.

At home, at a cafe, or anywhere you feel at peace, write a letter to the deceased on a "Tegami-dera Postcard" and send it to Tegami-dera. Tegami-dera will take responsibility for performing the otakiage (ritual burning).
